Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Dec 31, 2018 in her Joliet home under hospice care. She was 85 years of age. Jerrie was born June 18, 1933 the daughter of Domenic and Maria (Migliori) Baldini in Donora, PA. Raised and educated in Donora, Jerrie met and later married Paul R. Ellenberger on August 27, 1956. Their marriage resulted in 3 sons, all of which were the light of her life. The family of 5 relocated to Joliet in February 1966 following Paul’s transfer with US Steel Corp from the Donora Works plant to the Joliet steel mill.
Jerrie enjoyed working for the New Lenox School District while her children were school age. Once they were grown she accepted a Community Relations position with Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet. For 33 years until her retirement, she worked tirelessly, always with selfless dedication. During her retirement years she refocused her boundless energy to the benefit of Ingalls Park United Methodist Church and served the church as a Trustee.
Jerrie was proceeded in death by her youngest son David Brian (4-11-2010), her husband Paul Richard (4-21-2011) and her two older brothers Albert (3-20-2010) and Anthony Baldini (3-17-2015). She is survived by her two oldest sons Richard Scott (Sheri) and Paul Eric (the late Michelle) and four grandchildren Derek John (Jorie), Brian Scott (Ryan Jenkins), Austin Reed, Lauren Catherine, great-grandson Drake David and sister Louise (Baldini) Fernandez.
Memorial contributions in Jerrie Ellenberger’s name may be donated to the Ingalls Park UMC Memorial Fund at 105 Davison St, Joliet, Il 60433
The family would like to recognize and thank Joliet Hospice and the Brightstar Caregivers for their tireless attention to the care of our mother.
Funeral Services for Jerrie will be at 10:00am on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in New Lenox. Interment will be private.
