George Thomas Luscombe

George Thomas Luscombe, Jr. George Thomas Luscombe Jr passed away peacefully on May 20, 2021 at Smith Crossing in Orland Park, IL.

Born on August 1, 1927 to George and Cecilia Luscombe and raised in Blue Island, IL he graduated from Blue Island High School (now Eisenhower) prior to enlisting in the U S Navy. After his military service George married his love, Joan, on June 9, 1948 and together they raised their four children. They made their homes in Park Forest, IL, Duxbury, MA, and Frankfort, IL while also enjoying their beach condo on Longboat Key, FL. George was a very successful salesman before founding his own company, GTL Co, an international wholesale distributor of writing materials.

George cared for and was active in his community, serving as president of the Prestwick Homeowners Association in Frankfort, Illinois for a number of years, as well as on the board of Portobello Condo Association in Longboat Key, Florida.

George’s many interests and loves include sailing, golf, skiing, extensive travel, bridge and entertaining. He loved the theater, and that man loved a good meal. He always had an open door for friends and family. And for those who knew him, he was famous for his eggs benedict brunches and holidays wouldn’t be the same without his amazing turkey stuffing.

George was quick with his great smile and always maintained an amazing positive attitude.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Joan of almost 70 years, and his granddaughter Sarah. Surviving him are his four children and their spouses Kandice and Bob Tuttle of West Paris, Maine, Tom and Jane Luscombe of Frankfort, Illinois, Patti Zapf of Grand Junction, Colorado and John and Debbie Luscombe of Chicago, Illinois. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. George will be missed by many and always remain in our hearts.

Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort, IL at a later time.
