Gay Ann Gottberg (nee Jocius)

Age 71, of Manhattan, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Gay was born in Evergreen Park, IL to the late John and Bette (nee Weygandt) Jocius. Attended Bremen High School, and later earned her masters degree in elementary education. Gay retired from the West-Harvey Public School District #147 where she was a beloved teacher for many years. Loving, caring, giving, protective, and devoted mother of Stefanie (Kim) Gottberg; cherished grandmother of Kaelyn and Matthew Whipple; dear sister of Guy (Roberta) Jocius; loved aunt to Robin (Sean) Jocius; loved great-aunt to Amelia and Max Simonson; also survived by her granddogs Thor, Zoey, Andi, and Emmy.

Gay enjoyed spending time supporting her Chicago Cubs, family and friends. She also possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and a knack for selling all sorts of items on eBay. She was a friendly, caring, kind, and loving person that will be missed by everyone who knew her. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 11:00am until the time of Celebration of Life at 2:00pm.
