Francis Joseph Shank

Mokena, IL / Haugen, WI — Francis Joseph Shank, age 75, died peacefully early Sunday morning at his favorite place on earth, the Island, surrounded by friends and family.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents Bruno Szczech (Shank) and Genavieve Bafia (Shank), brother Sonny Shanks and sisters Esther Bednarke and Carol (Andy) Dicharia.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Tina, and two beautiful daughters, Cassandra (Sean) Casey and Tamara (Scott) Bloom. He also leaves behind six amazing grandchildren, Jake Vukelic, Aiden Casey, Reed Casey, Greyson Casey, Hayden Bloom and Harper Bloom, a strong older sister, Vivian (Phil) Mitcheff and many loving nieces and nephews.

Known for his love of friends and family, Frank will forever be remembered for his kind smile, fearless approach to life and doing things in a truly Polish way. Frank loved his country, serving in the U.S. Army, and taught his children and grandchildren to do the same. Frank will be laid to rest in his American Legion uniform to memorialize that love.

Visitation will be held this Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 10 AM to 4 PM at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 with a brief memorial service at 2 PM.
