(JOHNSON)

Age 85, of Lockport passed away Monday, May 30th, 2016 at Church Creek Rehabilitation Center in Arlington Heights.

Betty is survived by her loving family, children, Patty (Jeff) Wojtowicz, Tom Shinn, Jane Shinn, Jim (Lily) Shinn, grandchildren, Abbey (Joe Charest) Wojtowicz, Ben (Louriz) Wojtowicz, Leila (Max Ryan) Shinn, Billy Shinn, Nick Shinn, great grandson, Leo Charest, siblings, Ted Johnson, Rad Johnson, brother-in-law, Robert (Joan) Shinn, sister-in-law, Betty Grass and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Radford & Eunice Johnson (Siegert), husband, William Shinn whom she married on August 29, 1954, siblings, Laurabelle Taylor, Patricia Barnhart and Pauline Johnson.

Betty was born on a farm in Crossville, IL on May 4, 1931; attended Belle Grade School & Crossville Community High School graduating in1949 and then attended The University of Illinois graduating in 1953; she was past Edwards County Home Advisor & Will County Home Advisor; substituted as a teacher for 16 years at the Lockport School system & Mount Assisi Academy; member of Early Birds Home Extension Unit in Will County; past member of 4H club in White County & led 4H in Will County for 20 years; Cub Scout Den Mother & Brownie Girl Scouts Leader; member of the Taft PTA and Band Parents; 60 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Lockport where she sang in the choir; Activity Director at Alvernia Manor & Victorian Village in Lemont.

Family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton Street, Lockport, IL 60441 on Thursday, June 2nd, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Friday, June 3rd, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, 1000 South Washington Street, Lockport, IL 60441 from 9:30 AM until time of the funeral service at 10:00 AM. Interment, Lockport City Cemetery, Lockport. In lieu of flowers, donations to the First United Methodist Church of Lockport, the Methodist Church of Crossville, IL or the Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
