Dr. Lawrence "Larry" W. Hollatz
90, a longtime resident of the New Lenox/ Joliet area formerly of Chicago passed away June 6, 2014. He is survived by his loving family; wife Joyce (nee Carroll); children Lawrence F. Hollatz, Mark (Libby) Hollatz and Lisa Mills; grandchildren Hannah, Gehrig, Halle, Mallory and Sawyer Hollatz , Emily Mills and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Stanley Hollatz, mother Caroline (nee Mazarika); step father Frederick Timmerman. He was a graduate of Carl Schurz High School in Chicago, A veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII, a graduate of Northwestern University with a Doctorate of Dentistry in 1952, Life member of ADA, past President of the Will County Dental Society, Stone City VFW an usher at St. Jude Church for over 20 years, past president of the Joliet Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Joliet Kiwanis Club for over 40 years and the Joliet Elks, he enjoyed music, dancing and golf with 2 holes in one, playing bridge and poker and an avid reader, Bears and Cubs Fan. He loved his patients and his profession. Family will receive friends at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd. New Lenox, IL 60451 on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 3-8PM. Funeral Service Wednesday, June 11, 2014, with prayers at 9:30 AM to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, IL for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM. Interment with military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
