Donald G. Alpers, age 90, Veteran U.S. Navy P.C. 486 Korean Conflict. Graduated Lindblom High School 1950. Retired Lieutenant Chicago Fire Department Engine 95 Hook & Ladder 26. Son of the late George and Charlotte Alpers (Steele). Best friend and husband of Ruth Alpers (Barto) and the late Lois J. Alpers (Alsen). Loving father of the late William H. Alpers, David P. (Virginia “Ginger”) Alpers, City of Chicago Building Department. Loving step-father of Amy Ehrich, Susan (Jerry) Lang and former son in-law Brad Ehrich. Proud grandfather of the late Andrew Ehrich, John (fiancée Brittney Buckner) Ehrich, Joseph (Megan) Ehrich, Jacob Lang, Alyssa Wojdyla, Courtney Ehrich and Chloe Ehrich. Brother of the late Florence “Babe” Anderson. Formerly of Chicago Lawn. Current member of Faith Lutheran Church in Homewood, and former member of Nazareth & Ashburn Lutheran Churches. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Monday, December 20th, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, December 21st, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church, 18645 Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL 60430 from 9:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 10:00 AM. Interment, Fairmount Willow Hills Memorial Park, Willow Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chicago Fire Department Widows & Orphans Fund, 20 South Clark Street, Chicago IL, Honor Flight Chicago or Faith Lutheran Church Homewood would be appreciated.
