77, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at University of Chicago Medical Center. David was born in Rockford, IL to the late Fred and Jean (nee Moore) Hakes. Beloved husband of Janice (nee Grant); cherished father of David Hakes, Tammy (Bob) Ciesla, and Beth (Dave) Allen; devoted grandfather of Joseph Ciesla, Nicholas Ciesla, Lauren (Ryan) Neiswender, Thomas Ciesla, Mallory Hakes, Adeline Hakes, Hannah Hakes, Erika Nied, Jamie Nied, Honor Allen, and Echo Allen; dear brother of Robert (Marge) Hakes, Theresa (late Ray) Kasperas, and late Jimmy McNicholas; loved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. David was a U.S. Army Veteran and he was Owner and Operator of SPEC Engineering for 20 years. Please join family and friends for a visitation this Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 2pm-4pm, followed by a service led by Pastor Mark Pospisil (nephew).
