Daniel L. Kurber

Daniel L. Kurber, 88, of Frankfort, IL, earned his angel wings in Heaven to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

Daniel was born on September 12, 1932 in Chicago, IL. He was a proud Veteran, as he served in the military as a medic in the Korean War. Dan was best known for his years treating his customers with dignity plus respect as the owner and pharmacist of Mokena Pharmacy, which resided in Mokena, IL for 42 years. He was honored to share his passion for providing considerate care paired with his high regard for science, and he even relished in the times a customer would engage with him when he was out in the community. When Dan wasn’t behind the pharmacy counter, he was playing golf at Prestwick Country Club. Dan was a devout Catholic, family man, and was loyal to the friendships of the social circles he was connected to.

Dan was the beloved husband to the late Birgit E. Kurber, whom he shared 63 special years with. He was a loving father to: Daniel M. Kurber, Cynthia Kurber-Rerych (Richard), and Scott Kurber (Nancy). He was "Papa Dan” to five grandchildren: Daniel J. Kurber, Erika Rerych, Julie Kurber, Seth Kurber, and Jared Kurber. Also, Dan was the brother to two siblings whom he is survived by: Floyd Kurber and Anita Steinke.

Dan will be remembered for his faith, creative intelligence, sense of humor, giving back to the community, passion for golf, being an avid Cubs fan, spirited independence, showing up for people who needed him most, and for courting his beloved wife treating her to a life that cultivated so many rich memories for the entire family to hold onto.

Due to the COVID-19 virus, a private interment will be held with the family at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
