Chris W. Novota

December 19, 1956 — July 24, 2015

Chris W. Novota (58 years old) a caring, charismatic man, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2015 at his home in Colorado Springs, CO.
He was born December 19th, 1956, and raised in Frankfort, Illinois. He graduated from Lincoln-Way Central High School, and relocated to Colorado soon afterwards. There, he became friends with Tom Wohlford of the Butler Paper Company.
Chris was a printer by trade, employed by Current of Colorado for more than 20 years. He eventually resided with Tom and remained at his side until his passing earlier this year. They were friends for over 30 years.
Chris had many interests, including building flying remote controlled planes, restoring his 1986 Pontiac Fiero, motorcross/trail biking, flyfishing, skiing and snowboarding. After the passing of his dog, Xia, he created a website in her memory for digital portrait enhancement of pet photography. He loved raising betas and angel fish in his marine aquarium. He was self-taught in gardening, lovingly tending his roses, hostas, and canna lilies. He graciously hosted family members and friends when they visited. He was described as a "sweet, loving brother" and a "caring, wonderful friend."
He felt most at home on Pike's Peak, climbing and hiking to the top on more than one occasion. He enjoyed the scenery with his mother, especially in the Fall when the aspen trees changed their color. He embraced the local nature, whether fly-fishing for bass in the reservoirs, or monitoring weather for wildfires.
He was preceded in death by his faithful companion, Thomas Wohlford, and his father, Dr. Otto J. Novota. He is survived by his mother, Marion Kautz, and siblings Robert, Gary (Joy), Thomas (Deb), Ellen (Sandi), Otto, Polly (George) Eilers, and Peter (Gaby). He is also missed by his many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Jasper.
We all loved him and his love spread like wildfire through family and friends. His final resting place will be on the top of Pikes Peak. Please remember him when you visit.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 2nd at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, Illinois 60423
Chris was dearly compassionate to animals. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ASPCA or Humane Society in his Honor will be appreciated.
