CHARLES "CHUCK" E. ELLER

Charles E. Eller, 90, died peacefully at his home on Friday, February 21, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Charles was a resident of New Lenox for the past 57 years. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, having been stationed in Hawaii and Guam as a radioman. He was employed as an industrial engineer and real estate agent by the Rock Island Railroad for many years. He later was owner of Will Rent-A-Car in Joliet and, prior to his retirement, worked with Burns Security at the Dresden nuclear facility. Charles was a member for many years of the New Lenox United Methodist Church, danced with the Button & Bows Square Dance group, and he served as a member of the Village of New Lenox Plan Commission.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife if 62 years, Nedra, his children, Walter "Skip" (Kim) Eller of Wilmington, Karen (David) Seil of New Lenox, Robert Eller (Sharon Williamson) of Chicago; his grandchildren, Shawn, Justin and Kaitlin Seil, his dog, Muffin, and by many dear friends. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Eller, his grandmother, Amelia Watts, his son-in-law's mother, Betty Seil, and by his dogs, Candy and Misty.

Charles will be remembered as a concerned and loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a deep love for animals, riding his scooter, enjoying good food and an affinity for Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang. His quiet sense of humor was appreciated by all who knew him.

Charles' family will receive friends at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with a memorial service at 6:00 PM. Private interment will be at a later date at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions in Charles' memory be made to the Will County Humane Society or to TLC Animal Shelter.
