Charles "Chuck" C. Mark Jr.

Charles C. Mark “Chuck” age 81 passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday morning, February 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on October 01, 1939 and the son of the late Charles G. Mark and Dorothy A. Mark. He was born on a farm in Frankfort and was a lifelong resident.

He is survived by his loving wife Johanna “Joni” M. Mark (Lehner) and would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 19th. He is also survived by his children Donald (Tina) Tijan, Laura (Mark) Crain, Daniel (Dena) Tijan, Darren Tijan, and Douglas (Sarah) Mark. Cherished Grandfather of Mason Crain, Jordan Crain, Sarah Tijan, Corey (Billy) Holbrook, Heather Majewski, Nicole Tijan, Megan Zeugner, Angelina Tijan, William Mark, Alexander Mark, and Greta Mark. Very proud Great Grandfather of Alexis, Lyndsey, Dominic, Arianna, Olivia, Gracelynn and Julian. Fond Uncle, Great Uncle, and Great Great Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law to Sherri Mark, Margaret (Richard) Davis, Charyll (James) Colstock, and John (Julianne) Gibbons. Also survived by many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, the late Charles “Chuckie” Mark and his brother Gerald G. “Gerry” Mark.

He graduated Frankfort Grade School Class of 1954 and Lincoln Way High School Class of 1958 and a former member of Frankfort United Methodist Church. He was appointed to the Will County Plan Commission and served for several years.

Chuck began his working career as a boy setting pins at the Frankfort Bowling Alley and retired from working as the owner/operator of Chuck’s Auto Service in Joliet where he served the people in the community for over 30 years. Between those he also ran other successful auto repair businesses, worked for Ford in Chicago Heights and for a time, drove a dynamite truck! In his spare time he could be found tending to his large vegetable garden, watching the Chicago Bears and White Sox or bowling in leagues in Lockport and Tinley Park

He enjoyed country music, especially Johnny Cash. He was a big John Wayne fan and almost exclusively watched old western movies. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and playing euchre with many of his friends.

Charles had been battling illnesses for several years. The family is so grateful that he had the best care possible from his many physicians, specialists, nurses, the dialysis team, and the continued support of many family and friends.

Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way & Rt. 45, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Service on Thursday, February 25, 2021 in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Rosehill Cemetery. ALL ATTENDING VISITATION AND SERVICES ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCE. NO FOOD IS ALLOWED IN THE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
