Catherine E. Benson

Catherine E. Benson (nee Kosinski) age 92 passed away peacefully with her daughter and niece Ann at her side at Silver Cross Hospital on Saturday, February 11, 2023.

Survived by her only child Karen Peck of Frankfort; and her only grandson Tyler Peck of Nashville; also, numerous nieces and nephews survive.

Preceded in death by her husband Quinten Benson; her parents Michael and Anna (nee Bojkow) Kosinski; five sisters, Mary (Peter) Blasio, Genevieve (Samuel) Beck, Stella (Dr. Russell) Karr; Diana (Pat) Dwyer; Harriet (Gilbert)Knater;

five brothers Teddy, Casimer (at Iwo Jima), Joseph (Emily), Michael (Jean), and Walter (Elizabeth) Kosinski.

Catherine was born in Joliet on December 28, 1930, and was a lifelong resident. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School, graduated from Joliet Township High School and Joliet Junior College.

She worked several years as an office manager/bookkeeper for John Kistler,

Bates Grates, and Blacktop Paving. She was a member of New Life Church in New Lenox as well as a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She had many dear friends who have loved her for many years. Catherine had a great sense of humor and aways tried to make us all laugh. She was very generous and had a big heart, always willing to help anyone who needed her.

Her greatest joy was her grandson Tyler, with whom she had an especially close bond.
