Carol Ann Krauss

February 21, 1936 — October 3, 2017

Carol Ann Krauss (nee Mays) born 02/21/1936, (formerly of Chicago) was called home by her Heavenly Father while she slept peacefully on October 3rd, after suffering from complications from a rare form of a Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma called Sezary syndrome. After four years of suffering, Carol was finally diagnosed in November of 2016. Carol was surrounded by her loving family and dear pets during her last days. Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband John (Sonny) of 50 years; her parents, Harold and Genevieve (nee Bissell) Mays and step-father Arthur Dahl; her dearest sister, Gail Lee Szamlewski and husband Norman; her dearest brother, Ronald Mays and sister-in-law Florence and her dearest brother, Kenneth Mays; her niece, Krystine Szamlewski; and nephews, David Krauss and Matthew Mays. Carol was the last surviving sibling of the Mays family. She loved and missed her family until the day the Lord called her home.
Carol leaves behind her precious and much-loved children Linda (John) Korenjak of Stockton, CA and Jeanne (Michael) Losurdo of Orland Park, IL and her dear grandchildren, Rachael (Joshua) Peterson, Elizabeth (Steven) Waterfield both from Stockton, CA and Diana Losurdo of Orland Park, IL. Mom also leaves behind many dear family members, nieces and nephews, church family, and many dear friends and her dearly loved cat Bella and great grand-cat, Tikvah.
Carol was born and raised in the City of Chicago. John and Carol married on June 12, 1954. They raised their family in Chicago, and together, the family enjoyed all that the city had to offer. They took their children to the museums, zoos, River View, Forest Preserves and to so many more places. As a family they travelled across their beautiful America and visited the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Yellow Stone and many other national and state monuments and parks. The family also travelled to Canada to Expo 67 and Mexico.
In 1997, John and Carol moved to Frankfort, IL. They loved the slower pace of "country" life. Although in later years Carol suffered from her cancer, Macular Degeneration and Arthritis and was unable to read and knit, which her two favorite hobbies, she never despaired. Mom deeply loved America and was a well-informed citizen. She voted in every election. Her last votes cast were in the 2016 Presidential election where she proudly voted for Donald Trump. She loved and supported conservative causes as well as helping the veterans and animals. She was a precious mother; mother-in-law; and friend who will be missed by all.
Most importantly, Carol was a born-again believer and Jesus Christ was her personal Savior. She was a faithful and active member of Heritage Baptist Church for nearly twenty years. Because she knew Christ as Savior, she was not afraid to leave this world. She stood on the promises of Scripture of a home in heaven and a new body. She looked forward to seeing Jesus face to face.
