Age 64, a former resident of New Lenox, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Beloved husband of 41 years to Lorel (Daufenback); loving father of Eric (Christine), Keith (Katherine), and Jacob Van Gampler; cherished grandfather of Madison, Keegan, Landyn, Griffin, Tyler, Jase; dear brother of Peter Van Gampler, Frank (Donna) Van Gampler, Marge Story, Cindy Wallisch, Sandy, Eileen, June, and Bill; also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. Bernard graduated from Harding University with his Bachelor’s in Business Management. He was Branch Manager at Joliet Federal Savings and Loan, which merged with several different banks and is currently known as Chase Bank. Bernie later followed his dreams and was co-owner of Van Gampler Construction with his brother Frank focusing on residential new construction receiveing Business of Year Award in 2003. He was very active in the New Lenox Community and member of the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce. Bernard was involved in various committee assignments, including New Lenox Business Expo Chairman, Proud American Days Chairman, Village of New Lenox Economic Development, and Advisory Committee Member. Bernard was a man of faith, who loved to spread the word of the God, which not only lead him to being an active church member his whole life but also becoming a preacher at Rolling Acres Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL 60451 on Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 3-7 PM with a Memorial Service beginning at 6:00 PM. Interment private.
