Age 85 of Frankfort, passed away on Friday, August 5th, 2016 at the Cottages of New Lenox, in New Lenox.

Barbara is survived by her loving family, son, Scott (Michele) Duff, son-in-law, William Sumner, brother, Donald (Linda) Scharnhorst, grandchildren, Justin (Katie) Duff, Sean Duff, Jessica (Ryan) Tutko, Sarah (Dan) Chen, Matthew Beles and "Cookie Grandma" to great grandchildren, Leighton, Lucas, David and Alyssa.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond & Gertrude Scharnhorst (Steinmetz), daughter, Deborah Sumner, granddaughter, Amanda Sumner and brother Richard (Grace) Scharnhorst.

Barbara was born in her Grandmother's house in Matteson, IL.
Barbara was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Matteson. She was the financial secretary and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a music teacher who taught piano to many children. Her first job was a bank teller at the First National Bank in Chicago Heights. She worked for various car dealers, Tomchaney Volkswagen, Kickert Nissan and McKeever Volkswagen; as an office manager. Her last job before retirement was at Best Brick in Harvey, IL. In her later years she became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Matteson.

Family will receive friends at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 6201 Vollmer Road, Matteson, IL 60443 on Wednesday, August 10th, 2016 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service at 10:30 AM.
