Ann "Joanna" Vandergenugten

Ann "Johanna" VanderGenugten, 94, of Schererville, IN, formerly Crete, IL, passed peacefully on March 1, 2023. Mother of Barry (Karen) of Mokena, IL, Roger (Betty Schlosser) and Brian (Kelly) VanderGenugten of Schererville, IN. Oma of Kevin, Kelsey, Connor VanderGenugten, Rachel (Blake) MacDonald, Dana (Jack) Martin, Danielle Schlosser. Great Oma to Leonard, Finin VanderGenugten; Dylan, Alexandra, Graham MacDonald; Johanna, Carter Martin. Preceded in death by her husband Jack "Johan" VanderGenugten in 1993. Born in Deventer, Netherlands and survivor of WW II occupation, Ann finished school as a secretary and was an executive secretary for Shell Oil while living in Holland. Ann and Jack married in 1952 Together with her husband, they owned AVAN Precast Concrete of Lynwood, IL. Ann was an avid bicyclist and a volunteer for over 40 years for the Service League Guild and Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital. She spent happy times in both Land O’ Lakes, WI and Pompano Beach, FL. Ann was a member of First Pres. Church of Chicago Heights where she served as a Deacon and was a member of the Presbyterian Women and Rachel Circle. Memorial Visitation will be held on Sat., March 11, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 12:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 900 Thomas St., Chicago Heights.
