Andrew "Butch" Tess

December 22, 1947 — September 11, 2021

Andrew “Butch” Tess, age 73, passed away on September 11, 2021, the most Patriotic day of the year, with his loving family by his side.

Andrew is survived by his beloved wife Camille (nee Barbel) Tess of 54 years; his children, David (partner Julia Gerdes) Tess, and Lisa M. (Luke Clarizio) Markiewicz; grandchildren, Savanna J Tess, Saxton B. Tess, Andrew D. Markiewicz, Amanda L. Markiewicz, and Justin V. Markiewicz; siblings, Diane Gneda and Peter M. (Jean) Tess; special nephew Frank Stryczek; special nieces, Lynn Doulas and Kim Belmonte; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Andrew was an incredible man who always put his family before all else. Andrew was born in 1947 to Polish immigrant parents. Though they had come to America with little, Andrew and all his family fought to make their lives better. With all the struggles of their past the family still persevered to achieve the American Dream. When Andrew met his loving bride of 54 years, Camille, he instantly fell in love with her. On their honeymoon Andrew received news that he had been drafted. He was shipped across the world and served his time in the Army in Korea. Andrew was one of the most patriotic people that you could ever meet in this world, just beaming with American pride. The fact that his passing occurred on September 11, is appropriate because it is a day where American pride is at an absolute peak.

Andrew was the Vice President of H. Wilson Company located in South Holland, IL. In his spare time, you might find him with his grandkids hitting a round of golf, fishing with a cigar in his mouth, or hunting deer in his woods. He was also a pyrotechnician and was a proud member of the Pyrotechnician Guild Incorporate. As a youth he was an avid Swift player and often enjoyed spending time at the Summit VFW before it closed, at which point he was a familiar face at the VFW in Tinley. More so than anything else, Andrew was a family man that would do anything at the drop of a hat for his family. He was an incredible husband, father, and grandfather. He was his family’s rock and will continue to live in their hearts forever.

Services for Andrew will begin on Sunday, September 19, at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd. in New Lenox with a visitation from 3pm-8pm.
