AMANDA JEAN SUMNER
(1982-2014)

Amanda passed away on March 8th, 2014 at Loyola Medical Center after a long fight with Cystic Fibrosis.

Amanda was born to William and the late Deborah Sumner on November 28th, 1982. She is survived by her father, William; older sister and brother-in-law Sarah and Daniel Chen; younger brother, Matthew Beles, and her nephew, David. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Barbara Duff and her uncle and aunt, Scott and Michele Duff and her cousins; Justin and Katie Duff, Sean Duff, and Jessica and Ryan Tutko. On her father's side, she is survived by her uncle and aunt, Hayward and Beryl Sumner; uncle and aunt, Hugh and Deborah Sumner, and cousins, Gabriel & Kim Sumner and Graham & Jenny Sumner.

Even though her health was always an issue, Amanda earned an Associates Degree from Joliet Junior College in Horticulture. She lived with her grandmother and received a double lung transplant in March of 2008. Two years ago she was finally able to move into an independent living townhouse in Morris, IL. Amanda fought very hard to live a normal life and was looking forward to moving into her own apartment this March. Sadly, rejection of the donated organ is part of every transplant recipient's life and her life ended 6 years after her transplant surgery. Her new lungs had lasted longer than the average lung transplant and she was able to experience relatively good health until near the end.



Services will be held at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 6201 Vollmer Road, Matteson, IL 60443, on Saturday, March 15th, 2014 with visitation from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service at 10:00 AM. The burial will be at Skyline Memorial Park on Cicero Avenue in Monee, IL. All are welcome to a luncheon that will be held after the burial at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Memory of Amanda.
