It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Andrew Vorreyer on February 4, 2017. He lived in New Lenox IL and formerly Cicero IL. He was born on 7-14-1930 in Chicago, and is predeceased by his father Alfred, his mother Violet (Jasinski), and his brother Richard. Al was married to Elaine (Rudman) for 61 years. He is father to Leslie Gail Vorreyer, Lori Lynn (Thomas) Kmet, Alison Joy Vorreyer, Sharon Rae (Danny) Boshears and Bonnie Sue Vorreyer. Grandfather to Julie, Jennifer, Joseph (deceased), Daniel, Rachel and William. Sisters in law Judith and Gail, brothers in law William (deceased) and Robin. Cousins Karen and Jimmy (deceased), and nephews Brent and Scott and niece Cynthia.
Al served proudly in the US Naval Reserve and was also a member of IUOE Local 399, retiring from University of Illinois Medical Center Chicago after 42 years. Al was an accomplished Illinois Artisan in metal sculpture specializing in recycled materials. Al loved skiing, RVing, a nice glass of wine, and a beautiful sunset. And he loved his garage! In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the charity of your choice. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox IL on Saturday February 11, 2017 from 10:00am until time of Memorial Service at 12 noon. Interment private.
