Robert Edward Glim, 77, of New Lenox, Illinois, passed away peacefully (in his home) on March 8, 2026

Born and raised in Blue Island, Illinois, Robert was the son of Jeanette (Hill) and Joseph L Glim. He grew up alongside his siblings Joseph L. Glim (preceded in death), Diane Glim Bossert. Kathleen Glim Lambert, Bernard Glim, Kenneth Glim and Gerard Glim. He would always tell stories of living off the land back then eating fruit off the trees and grabbing tomatoes from the garden (always with a salt shaker in his pocket).

Robert built a strong work ethic throughout his life and worked as a Plant Manager in the silk screening and blow molding industry, working for both Walgreens and Helene Curtis. He played drums in a band named Solid Gold on the weekends playing 50's and 60's music, a love he kept with him through life. He was also known for being incredibly handy, able to fix most anything. This included building an addition on the family home in Homewood. His specialty was woodworking. He was always willing to lend a helping hand even if it was 2 am; a bit maybe less so at 8 am.

Following a lung transplant in 2008 , Robert was blessed with 16 additional years surrounded by the love of his family, a time he deeply cherished, welcoming 4 more grandchildren he was able to watch grow.

Above all, Robert's greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time on the water boating, (vacation was not the same without it) or out in the fields flying one of his model airplanes. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor. He had an incredible ability to make others laugh, even in the toughest of times. He was an amazing father, a devoted husband, and a truly great man.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Glim, his five children: Christie (Jeff ) Mulkey, Robert Jr (Nora) Glim , Tina Glim, Joseph (Jen) Glim, and Matt (Sara) Glim. He was a proud grandfather to Justin, Micah, Leighton, Amanda, Louie, Alyssa, Joanna, Makayla, Josh, Ryan, Simon, Okalani Glim, Finnegan, and Cameron and Great Grandfather to Taya, Jackson, Oliver, Thea, Elim, Isla and Whitley.

Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 30 at St. Jude Church in New Lenox, Illinois, Visitation will be from 11:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m., followed by a Mass from 12:00 p. m. to 1:00 p. m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gift of Hope Northwest Indiana and Illinois Chapter a cause Bob deeply believed in.
