Obituary

Michael T. Roberson III “Robo” age 20 passed away unexpectedly as the result of an automobile accident while returning to his college campus.

Michael, born and raised in Minooka, Illinois, was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Those closest to Michael often spoke of his quick wit and infectious laughter, which had a remarkable way of lighting up any room. His loyalty, kindness, and steadfast dedication to the people he loved left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He touched many lives including those of his family, countless friends and teammates; they will carry his memory with them always.

Among the many cherished memories he leaves behind are the countless hours spent fishing, hunting and connecting with his father, Don Coleman, Papa D, Tim Warren and Virgil Coleman. These simple yet meaningful times together will remain especially dear to those who shared them with him.

Michael will be remembered as a passionate and dedicated baseball player, whose love for the game shaped so much of his life. As a catcher, he brought commitment, discipline, and heart to every team he joined, including Channahon Baseball, Cangelosi Blacksox, Cangelosi Sparks, and Elite Baseball Training.

Following his graduation from Channahon Schools and Providence Catholic in 2024, Michael continued to pursue his dream at the collegiate level, proudly representing John A. Logan Community College and Lincoln Land Community College. Most recently, he achieved an exciting milestone when he was recruited and signed to begin the fall season at Ottawa University in Kansas, which was a testament to his talent, perseverance, and unwavering dedication to the sport he loved.

Michael is survived by his beloved parents, Michael Jr. and Karen Roberson; his sister, Sydney Roberson, all of Minooka. He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Doug and Judy Kestel of Frankfort, and his paternal grandparents, Michael Sr. and Jeanette Roberson of Frankfort; his aunts and uncles, Tracie and Rick Belom, Kathy and Rich Denton, and Kim Deichen; and his cousins, Samantha Dufour and Rylan Deichen. Michael was preceded in death by his cousin, Tyler Dufour.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help during this difficult time.

Visitation will be at Kurtz Memorial Chapel on May 3rd from 3pm-8pm which will include a special tribute from his Lincoln Land Community College baseball Coach Steve Torricelli at 4pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church on May 4th at 10:30am.
