Hortensia M. "Tench" Garza (nee Ruelas)
98, of Lockport, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Tench was born in Chicago, IL to the late Ramon and Micaela (nee Alatorre) Ruelas. Beloved wife of the late Oscar B. Garza; loving mother of Bruce (Dale), Robert (Twila), the late Sandra, Richard (Sandy), Mark (Debbie), Ray (Joy), and John (Rosie); cherished grandmother of 22; proud great grandmother of 40; dear sister of the late Josephine (Robert) Pochran and the late Victor (late Joy) Ruelas; loved aunt, cousin, and friend of many. Tench was an entrepreneur, she owned and operated a women's fitness center. She was also a skilled bookeeper for both CTS Enterprises and Garza Transportation. Tench enjoyed getting together with family and friends and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers donations in Tench's name to Alcoholics Anonymous would be appreciated. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church 500 S. Jefferson St, Lockport, IL on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00am. Private interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
