Obituary

Gary D. Narcisi, 65, of Frankfort, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family.

Born and raised in Chicago Heights, Gary was a proud alumnus of Bloom High School and Eastern Illinois University, where he passionately studied Political Science.

Gary lived a life defined by integrity, intelligence, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. He was fiercely loyal and widely respected for his steady judgment, sharp mind, and ability to offer thoughtful, grounding advice when it mattered most. He had a way of making people feel safe, understood, and never alone in whatever they were facing. Gary had both a calming presence and a goofy, larger-than-life sense of humor that put people instantly at ease. People could count on him to show up, listen, crack a joke, and, most importantly, be someone they could rely on.

Gary was the beloved husband of Nina Narcisi, his partner in life for 39 years. Together, they built a home and family in Frankfort, Illinois, where he lived for most of his life. He was a loving father to Melissa (Chris) Petges and the cherished “Poppy” to his granddaughters, Talia Rose and Mila Rose Petges, who were among the greatest joys of his life. Being their Poppy brought him a joy that was unmistakable to anyone who saw them together. He was also a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Gary was a respected and accomplished businessman. He served as Executive Vice President of Sales for Up at Dawn Bakery, where he built a successful career defined by leadership, relationships, and deep respect throughout his industry.

A lifelong lover of history, Gary was endlessly curious about the world and enjoyed sharing what he learned with others. He was a dedicated Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears fan who rarely missed a game and loved hosting Bears game parties. Whether sharing a conversation, cheering on his teams, or enjoying a cold beer or a cigar, he was fully present in those moments and intent on ensuring everyone around him was having a good time.

Above all else, Gary’s greatest pride was his family. He especially cherished his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters, who brought him endless joy and who will carry his love, wisdom, and influence with them always. The bond he shared with his daughter was one of the greatest joys of his life. She was his pride and joy, and he was her biggest supporter, trusted advisor, and safe place. Their connection was one built on unconditional love, unwavering loyalty, and deep mutual admiration. His love for his family was evident in everything he did.

Per Gary’s wishes, services were held privately with his immediate family.
