Obituary

Eileen Pubins (Sullivan), 77, of New Lenox, Illinois, passed away on May 4, 2026. Born February 13, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, Eileen lived a life marked by steadfast love for her family, remarkable perseverance, and kindness that reached everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a faithful member of St. Jude Parish in New Lenox and, previously, St. Emeric Parish in Country Club Hills. Raised in Chicago, Eileen carried the spirit of the city with her always. A proud and passionate sports fan, she cheered especially hard for the Go-Go White Sox—and for whoever happened to be playing the Cubs. Whether she was following a game or tending her beloved yard and garden, she poured her whole heart into what she loved. Her strong will and work ethic were evident in all she did, and those qualities shaped the way she cared for others. Above all, Eileen was a devoted mother and a deeply loving grandmother. She cared for her children with steady, selfless dedication. She and her daughter Laura treasured their many trips together, often persuading her son Bill to join them on the day trips. Her daughter Lynne—who she lived to nurture—held a special place in her heart providing a healthy dose of daily conversation. Her son Tim spent countless hours helping Mom navigate the intricacies of managing her finances and preparing for the future. Eileen took tremendous pride in her four granddaughters—Rachel, Sarah, Katherine, and Elizabeth—and cherished every Pennsylvania visit, along with the texts and moments shared with them and Tim’s wife, Michele.

Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Pubins. She is survived by her children, Laura Pubins; Lynne Pubins; William Pubins; and Timothy Pubins (Michele), and by her four cherished granddaughters, Rachel, Sarah, Katherine, and Elizabeth Pubins. She is also survived by her siblings: Jean Thompson (late Edward), James Sullivan (Sharon), Michael Sullivan (Louise), Kathleen Durkin, and Richard Sullivan (Elizabeth). In addition, she is survived by her in-laws: James Pubins (Jennie), Mary Fran Lemrise (John), Ellen Weems (Bill), the late Daniel Pubins (Margie Morita), and the late Margaret Pubins. Eileen is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Eileen was a lasting example of perseverance and kindness. Her strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to her family helped her meet life’s challenges with grace. She opened her heart to others, and those who knew and loved her will remember the warmth, steadiness, and humor she brought to everyday life.

May she now rest in the peace and grace of God, reunited with William and all those who went before her. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox, Illinois, followed by a Catholic Mass. A private burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, Illinois.
