Daniel "Dan" Florian, age 71, of New Lenox, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, July 10, 2026.
Dan was born in Oak Park, Illinois, to the late Harold C. and Joan C. Florian (née Magrady).
He was the beloved husband of Susan A. Florian (née Walsh), with whom he shared 32 wonderful years of marriage. Loving father of Sean (Adrianna) Florian, Aaron (Jennifer) Florian, Jeremy (Tracy) Florian, and Tessa (Andrew) Gluckleder. Cherished "Peepaw" to Sean Jr., Saylor, Harper, Archer, Callyn, Autumn, Elouise, and Evan. Dear brother of the late Kathleen Florian Heller, Susan (Wally) Schweiger, and Brian (Holly) Florian. He was also a beloved uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Dan was the proud owner of Safeway Chimney Sweeps, faithfully serving the Lincoln-Way area for more than 40 years. He also dedicated more than 20 years to Parker Junior High School District 161 in Flossmoor. A hardworking and devoted provider, Dan spent his life ensuring his family had every opportunity and a better life than the one he had growing up.
In his free time, Dan enjoyed playing the drums, traveling with his beloved wife, Susan, and cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams—the Blackhawks, Bears, and White Sox. Above all else, Dan treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. His greatest joy was creating memories with those he loved, and his unwavering love, kindness, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Dan’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd New Lenox, Illinois on Tuesday July 14, 2026, from 3:00pm until time of service at 7:00pm. Private interment will take place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
