Carole Ballard, age 89, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, surrounded by love.

Born on January 14, 1937, Carole lived a life centered on connection, kindness, and love. She had a naturally warm and outgoing spirit and was known by all who met her as someone who was friendly, welcoming, and easy to talk to. She was a truly great listener—someone people could turn to for comfort, conversation, and understanding.

Carole found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved tending to her roses, getting lost in a good crime thriller, and spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking for those she loved. She also cherished visiting friends and relatives and staying connected to the people who meant the most to her.

Family was at the heart of everything she did. She showed her love not just in words, but in presence—never missing a birthday, a gathering, or a moment that mattered. Her consistency, care, and quiet devotion created lasting memories for everyone around her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Johnny L. Ballard, and her daughter, Debra Ballard (McNamara).

Carole is lovingly survived by her son, John S. Ballard (Phyllis); her son-in-law, Michael McNamara; her grandchildren, Kristin Doudt, Bonnie Ballard, and Kurtis Doudt; her great-grandchildren, Danielle Summerscales (Daniel) and Kristal Santoro; and her great-great-grandson, Finn Summerscales.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in New Lenox, Illinois. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, April 28, at 11:00 a.m.

Carole’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched through her kindness, her warmth, and the way she made people feel seen, heard, and loved.
